Information for Transfer In Students

  • Accepts Transfers:
    An upper-division transfer applicant has completed at least 60 transferable units and met the standard Sacramento State requirements. Sacramento State does not currently accept lower-division transfer applications.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    A minimum college GPA of 2.0 is required for California residents and 2.4 is required of non-residents to apply for transfer admission.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official college transcripts from all previously attended institutions are required. High school transcripts may be required of some applicants.
  • SAT Scores:
    Standardized test scores may be required of some applicants.
  • Other Requirements:
    A statement of good standing from prior institutions may be required of some applicants.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    D is the minimum grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit except for specific General Education courses that require a minimum grade of C-.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 70 semester units of credit may be transferred from a two-year institution, with no max from a four-year. You must complete 30 semester units at Sacramento State to earn a bachelor's degree.
