With a commitment to academic excellence and spiritual vitality, Asbury University encourages more than 1,300 students to study, worship and serve together on a campus located 20 minutes southwest of Lexington in Wilmore, Kentucky. Primarily a four-year, multi-denominational institution, the University has been at the heart of spiritual movements throughout its history. Students come from 44 states and 14 foreign nations, and more than 80 percent of the University’s students live on campus. Classes are taught by experienced scholars, 75 percent of whom hold terminal degrees in their field of study. Asbury University’s 14 academic departments offer more than 40 majors.

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    In any given year, more than 90% of incoming students receive institutional financial aid of some kind. Transfer students meet necessary academic requirements are eligible for an academic scholarship. We know that trying to finance higher education (especially private, Christian higher education) may seem like a daunting task, but the Financial Aid Office is here to help you.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    For transfer students, admission in good standing requires a 2.5 cumulative grade point average in 30 or more semester hours from an accredited college or university. Students who fall below one or more of these specific criteria can still be admitted on a conditional basis and are encouraged to apply.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Official college transcripts are required. Applicants with fewer than 30 semester hours of college credit should also submit a high school academic transcript indicating a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • SAT Scores:
    Applicants with fewer than 30 semester hours of college credit should also submit a high school academic transcript indicating a SAT combined score of at least 1020 or an ACT composite score of at least 22.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    A signed and completed Christian Character Recommendation Form is strongly recommended.
  • Interview:
    A personal interview and/or references may be required of selected candidates.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    A maximum of 30 semester hours may be transferred for associate’s degree(student must complete at least 30 semester hours at AU)

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Courses must have grades of C- or above to transfer. Courses which are graded under a pass-fail system are not accepted for transfer without official validation that the minimum passing grade is C-.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A max of 60 semester hours may be taken from all sources. An additional 15 semester hours may transfer from an accredited 4 year institution for a max total of 75. Student must complete at least 49 semester hours at AU.
